Two tornadoes struck Macon County Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service reports. One touched down near Blue Mound, crossing Route 48, but left no damage. The second tornado hit the Long Creek area, damaging at least nine homes along Jeanette Drive, Skyline Drive, Walmsley Road, Bentonville Road, and Baltimore Avenue, with several roofs torn off. Emergency officials say no injuries were reported, and displaced residents received shelter. Power outages peaked at over 2,200 on Sunday, with crews still restoring service. Residents are urged to steer clear of affected areas as recovery efforts and damage assessments continue.
