BILLS SIGNED
Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s office announced more than a dozen bills were enacted on Friday. One measure decouples the state tax code from several provisions of the federal tax code that Republicans warned would make the state less competitive. Aside from this bill, Physician-assisted suicide will be legal in Illinois. Governor JB Pritzker signed Senate Bill 1950, the “Medical Aid in Dying” bill. The law will take effect on September 12, 2026. Illinois will become the 12th state, plus Washington, DC, to have a law regarding physician-assisted suicide on the books.
