Decatur Implements Water Conservation Requirements
The city of Decatur is taking measures as a drought continues. The city is moving to Stage One Water Rationing. Lake Decatur’s water level is dropping as much of central Illinois has received below-average rainfall since mid-August. The lake is the primary source of water for the City of Decatur and the Village of Mount Zion. Certain restrictions are in place, including a ban on pumping water from the lake for irrigation purposes. The use of water to maintain lawns, golf courses, athletic fields, and all other vegetation is allowed only on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday of each week.
