CHICAGO VS. U.S. GRANT LAWSUIT
Chicago has filed a lawsuit seeking to prevent the U.S. Department of Justice from imposing grant conditions based on cities’ diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and their restrictions on assisting federal immigration enforcement. The suit pertains to a $6.25 million grant under the DOJ’s Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Hiring Program. The city of St. Paul, Minnesota, joined the lawsuit filed in the Northern District of Illinois.
