CHICAGO DHS LAWSUIT
The city of Chicago and eight other local governments have filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s administration over Department of Homeland Security grants. Chicago Corporation Counsel Mary Richardson-Lowry claimed the federal government cannot demand that cities dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs in exchange for disaster relief. A statement from Mayor Brandon Johnson said the lawsuit seeks to protect tens of millions of dollars in critical funding.
