State Democrats Approve Political Violence Measure With Caveat
House Democrats are agreed on a resolution that condemns political violence. Illinois lawmakers passed House Resolution 508 on a partisan 74-73 vote yesterday. The move comes a month after political activist and podcaster Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at a Utah college. Democratic Chair Lisa Hernandez said the measure does not just condemn the acts against Kirk and Minnesota Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, but also condemns the “political violence committed by ICE agents” in Illinois and around the country. Illinois Republicans took issue with the latter and the criticisms of the White House.
