Auditor General Report Says Agency Fell Short on Implementing Elements of Pritzker’s Climate Bill

(Chicago, IL) — A new report from Illinois’ auditor general claims Governor Pritzker’s economic development agency fell short in implementing elements of his landmark climate bill. The measure outlined the governor’s plan for reaching 40-percent renewable energy by 2030 while also creating opportunities for workers from underserved groups. The report says from June 2022 to June 2024, the state’s Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity failed to implement programs designed to assist clean energy contractors in underserved areas. The agency also didn’t provide clean energy jobs training to people exiting Illinois prisons.
