Retired Springfield Police Sergeant Charged With DUI Appears In Court
(Springfield, IL) — A retired Springfield Police sergeant charged with DUI following a crash in Springfield last week is out of jail. Michael Egan appeared yesterday in court, where he was released from custody with strict conditions. Authorities say Egan was driving last Thursday night on East Lake Shore Drive when a motorcycle ran into his vehicle while he was making a left turn. Two people riding the motorcycle were hospitalized with serious injuries. Egan faces one count of driving under the influence. He isn’t allowed to drive a vehicle, drink alcohol, or go to establishments that sell alcohol.
