Dust Storms Shuts Down Portion Of I-55 Near Bloomington
(Bloomington, IL) — A dust storm is being blamed for shutting down a portion of I-55 near Bloomington. State police announced yesterday there was a dust storm on I-55 near McLean. The dust was blowing across the north and southbound lanes. As a result, I-55 was closed in both directions. State police reported a second dust storm that shut down I-74 between Le Roy and unincorporated De Witt County. The road closures come just over a year after a dust storm caused a deadly massive crash on I-55 in Montgomery County.
