Due to the winter storm today, City offices in the Civic Center will be closing to the public this afternoon. Our City staff is still available this afternoon via telephone or email. Check the City website for future updates.
Additionally, Decatur Public Transit will move our bus services to “snow routes” beginning effectively immediately. This means our fixed bus route services will stay on major roads only, with no direct service through smaller residential side streets. We will return to normal route service as soon as it is safe to do so.
We know that this means some riders will have to walk a further distance to get to a major route, and for this we apologize. The safety of our drivers and riders alike warrant us to take this step for the benefit of all. Based on the expected ice and snow fall, we anticipate some impacts to Transit services through today and potentially tomorrow morning.
In addition to snow routes services, riders should also anticipate some delays, as routes may take longer, depending on the condition of the streets. Please be patient with us and know the City of Decatur and Decatur Public Transit are working as quickly as we can to get our streets cleared and bus service resumed to normal. Please do your part by keeping all parked vehicles off of all roadways until we can get the roads cleared for users.
