Arrest Made in Arson Case at the Illinois State Fairgrounds

A former candidate for the Illinois statehouse, and an accomplice have been arrested for intentionally starting a fire at the Illinois State Fair last month. Springfield Leaks reports in a video hours before a fire was set to a concession stand, John Keating II is seen threatening a worker with which he had a physical altercation with last summer. John Keating II, 33, of Springfield, and Zakary Bunt, 19, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, were arrested on charges of arson and criminal property damage. Keating ran as a Green Party candidate in 2020 for the seat held by Democratic state Rep. Sue Scherer.
