Lawmaker Wants More Local Control Over Abandoned Property

A state lawmaker is pushing to give local governments more control over abandoned properties.  Senator Steve Stadelman advocated for a measure that would allow cities and counties more leeway in maintaining, improving, or demolishing blighted properties.  The bill is in the hands of Governor J.B. Pritzker.
