Businesses and organizations looking to increase their brand awareness and show their community spirit now have the opportunity for regional recognition, as the 2021 Let’s Keep Decatur Bee-utiful Contest is now open and accepting entries.
“The contest continues to grow every year, as more and more groups and companies get behind the effort to keep our community beautiful,” said Jill Davis, co-chair of the Beautify Decatur Coalition, which organizes the contest. “It’s a simple, yet effective, way for them to raise their profile among community members and show off their hard work.”
The Let’s Keep Decatur Bee-utiful contest – now in its 11th year – was created to encourage an increased emphasis on curb appeal and public presence, and highlight the leaders in both areas.
Businesses can enter in one of four categories, and winners receive a prize and special award. The categories for 2021 are:
- Best Use of Flowers (winner receives a Striglos Desk Chair worth $500+ AND One Free Papa Murphy’s Pizza a Month for a Year)
- Best Landscape (winner receives $500 Landscaping/Flowers from Connie’s Country Greenhouse)
- Best Signage (winner receives $500 Speed Lube Service Gift Card)
- Most Litter-Free (winner receives $500 Cedar Lake Gardens & Gifts Gift Card)
From July 1-6, contest judges – Busy Bees – will visit entrants to determine the top businesses in each category.
In addition, the public votes on the Most Popular Award for the most photogenic, most BEE-UTIFUL business. The winner receives a $500 Lowe’s gift card and a wheelbarrow full of $250 worth of garden tools. Businesses can share their submission link on social media and encourage people to vote for them.
Winners are recognized at a special judges visit, on the Beautify Decatur Coalition website, on social media and by local media.
Registration runs June 1-30, 2021, and is free for any business or organization. To enter, visit www.BeautifyDecatur.com/lkdb.
