The DPS 61 Board of Education met Tuesday evening for their regular meeting which included proposed compensation for multiple District employees. One of those proposals included a $30,000 bonus for Assistant Superintendent Jeff Dase. The meeting began with an adjustment to the structure of the meeting which saw the public comments section being moved back to the beginning of the session, before any board action was taken, from the end of the meeting. The public comment portion of the meeting extended well over an hour, with the comments mainly addressing what was termed on many occasions as a “toxic work environment” within the District, and opposition to the bonus for Mr. Dase. Following a discussion period, the Board ultimately voted 7-0 against the bonus for the Assistant Superintendent.
