The first case of human West Nile Virus infection is being confirmed in Illinois. The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting a woman in her 40’s from DuPage County became sick last month and has tested positive for West Nile. IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says most people with the virus don’t show any symptoms, but some may experience fever, nausea, headaches and muscle aches and should call their doctor. Ezike says the best way to protect yourself is to wear insect repellant and report any stagnant pools of water where mosquitos can breed.
