The Joint Crisis Communication Team announced the death of the 26th Macon County resident with COVID-19 Tuesday afternoon. This person was a female in her 70s. The team extends their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends, and ask that they are given respect and privacy as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
Since Monday, there are 16 newly-confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the overall number to 871 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Macon County.
The Illinois Department of Public Health Tuesday also announced 1,680 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, including 29 additional confirmed deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 223,470 cases, including 7,917 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 40,859 specimens for a total of 3,781,050. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from August 18 – August 24 is 4.1%. As of last night, 1,549 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 345 patients were in the ICU and 135 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
