Springfield Park Could Be Renamed After Frederick Douglass

A park in Springfield could soon be named after Frederick Douglass.  Douglas Park is currently named after Stephen Douglas, a U.S. Senator from Illinois.  New research shows he profited from slavery.  Now, Park Board member Lisa Badger is suggesting the revision, instead naming the 26-acre park after the abolitionist.  The vote on the name change could come as soon as September.
