A man who was arrested after driving into a house made threats towards an officer and their family.
Cody Steck attempted to steal a trailer from behind a home on Easy Street. The owner arrived in time to catch Steck, who approached the man and removed his shirt. A neighbor came home and noticed the situation and attempted to call police. When Steck noticed the neighbor, he ran towards them. The man then moved away from Steck who stole the man’s vehicle and crashed into a house on East Van Buren. he was taken to St. Mary’s where his BAC was found to be .3.
Steck ripped out his IV, which caused him to start bleeding profusely. He proceeded to wipe the blood on his face and body. He then calmed his demeanor to get a nurse to put in a new IV when he tried to take the needle from the nurse.
Officers then subdued Steck. In the struggle, he kicked an officer in the head and claimed he was affiliated with a gang. he then threatened one of the officers and their family.
Steck’s charges include: aggravated battery to a peace officer, possession of meth, driving under the influence and threatening a public official.
