A Macon man has been charged with aggravated battery to a child after being investigated for child abuse.
Seth Nashland’s 8-week-old son was taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital and was found to have a recent brain injury, as well as an existing brain injury. Medical staff also noted fractured ribs, first and second-degree burns and bruising.
Nashland was interviewed by law enforcement last Friday and admitted to shoving his son, which made his head bump into a TV stand. For the burns, he said the cold water was accidentally switched off while the child was being given a bath.
In a second interview on Wednesday Nashland admitted to shaking the baby, which caused the baby’s eyes to roll back. He then shoved the child.
Now at St. John’s, the baby is on a respirator and being treated with anti-seizure medication. The baby’s life is in danger according to the staff at St. John’s. They noted that if the child survives, it is possible it will have issues with brain function and vision.
