On Tuesday, a Decatur man was accused of holding a woman’s head underwater while assaulting her.
Nickie Joyner became angry with the woman after accusing her of stealing his marijuana. Joyner then began assaulting the woman by punching her in the face. When she went to the bathroom he followed and pushed her head into a bathtub, punched the back of her head and then held her head underwater for 10-15 seconds.
He then allegedly armed a gun at her after the incident moved to the kitchen. Joyner then exited the house and left the area.
He has been charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a felon.
