A house fire in Cerro Gordo on Monday required more than 50 fire fighters on scene.
Around 7:30 p.m. Monday evening, crews were called to the home on West Carter Street. 15 departments in total were called. The house was so engulfed, it has been considered to be a total loss. Two fire hydrants nearby struggled to work properly, with one that didn’t work at all and another that worked only intermittently at first.
Due to the hydrants’ malfunctioning, tankers were brought in. Reports state that over 300,000 gallons of water went towards extinguishing the blaze.
