A Decatur man has been accused of sexually assaulting a child and then threatening the child’s life.
On Saturday, Clarence Ballard, who knew the family of his victim, was with the child in his car. He took the child to Sandy’s Motel after taking their phone. Ballard then sexually assaulted the child and recorded it on his cell phone. Upon leaving, the child said they were going to contact police, to which Ballard responded by punching the child and threatening their life.
The child was able to escape from the car and was eventually able to get the attention of a passerby. The child was then picked up by a family member and taken to the hospital.
Ballard has denied the sexual assault.
