A man from Urbana became the first person arrested in Champaign County for use of cannabis in a vehicle. Officers smelled cannabis coming from the car during a traffic stop where they found two ounces in a bag.
Brandon Turk gave police a false name during the stop but upon being taken to jail, police learned his name and also that he had outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was charged with felony obstruction of justice.
Cannabis is now legal to transport, but must be carried in a sealed, child-proof container.
