A woman form Decatur who was charged with driving under the influence on New Year’s Eve also kicked an officer.
Officers noticed a car on a curb early Wednesday morning. Emergency medical services were contacted to treat a cut on the woman’s ankle. She opted for treatment after initially refusing. She was then transported to a local hospital where she became agitated and began kicking medical equipment. When an officer attempted to restrain the 24-year-old woman, she kicked the officer in the face. She then continued her struggle while being taken to a squad car.
She made officers aware that she had two children who were home alone and upon checking, officers found a two and three-year-old asleep at her residence.
She has been charged with endangering the health/life of a child, resisting/obstructing an officer, driving under the influence and aggravated battery to an officer.
