A 90-year-old Decatur woman was tricked out of a substantial amount of money and now police are investigating. The woman wrote a total of three checks which she believed were for taxes from a prize she won. The first two checks were not cashed, but the third was written a few days after the initial two and was deposited.
Police believe the woman was part of an ongoing con that started in November.
