A man from Decatur who was arrested for whipping a 9-year-old girl for missing math questions on her homework has been given two years of probation and will also have to complete an anger management course.
Craig Owens was arrested back on September 12th after the 9-year-old was taken to the hospital because of the pain of the whipping.
Owens has to refrain from the discipline of minor children and will have to register as a violent offender against youth.
