The DFTA will suspend their strike on November 1st, without a contract. The Decatur District 61 Board of Education has informed the union that their health insurance is to be cancelled.
The union has requested more dates for bargaining dates via their mediator and are waiting for a response. The two sides have met with a mediator present four times.
“We simply want to negotiate a fair and reasonable contract that allows us to meet our own basic needs. We stand ready to bargain.” Said DFTA President Paula Busboom.
