The Illinois Senate has moved forward with a plan to put a cap on rising insulin prices. The plan would set the cap at $100 a month for patients who use insulin.
After insulin prices have more than tripled since 2002, Senator Andy Manar sponsored Senate Bill 667. The price cap will be applicable to state-regulated commercial insurance plans.
The bill is now passed along to the House. If passed, Illinois would become the second state to set a cap on insulin prices.
