Rivian, an electric car startup, held a community showcase in Normal.
Rivian is set to begin manufacturing three types of vehicles next year. It will use the space that was formerly occupied by Mitsubishi.
Currently, the plant is employing 200 people and that number is expected to grow to over 1,000 when Rivian vehicles go on sale to the public in late 2020. Rivian is set to benefit from $50,000,000 in incentives should they hit their targets for investment and hiring.
