Yesterday, the Decatur Police Department began a registration program that would allow police to find registration data for security cameras and request the footage from the owner if a crime had been committed in view of a camera.
Police will not have direct access or be able to access the footage remotely. Registering security cameras would allow investigations to be more efficient for the police.
