The Decatur city council voted against cannabis dispensaries and cultivation. They voted 6-1 in favor of opting out of allowing the sale of marijuana. In the same meeting, the council voted 4-3 to decline other forms of cannabis-related businesses like processing centers and cultivation.
Soon the council will talk about the issue of where marijuana users will be able to smoke; the council is going to address the issue at a future meeting.
Members of the council are concerned about how recreational marijuana would impact the community, but some expressed they would reconsider the decision at a later date and base their future decision off how it is received in other cities.
