A Decatur man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for attempting to kidnap an ex-girlfriend. Thomas Krigbaum, 42, was sentenced Wednesday afternoon. According to court records, he attacked a 31-year-old woman while armed with a knife.
Krigbaum approached the victim from behind and covered her mouth with his hand. He stated he just wanted to talk but the woman’s screams alerted neighbors who came to help her.
