Wednesday the Illinois Terrorism Task Force said it distributed more than 7,000 “Stop the Bleed” kits after the School Safety Working Group made the suggestion. This is part of a national movement headed by the Department of Homeland Security to prepare bystanders until professionals arrive.
Schools have been tasked with training five adults in application of the contents of the kit which include: nitrile gloves, gauze, dressing, shears, a tourniquet and other medical items.
