Thai Thani has been closed by the Macon County Health Department. An investigation was opened after the fourth customer complaint this year. While dining, the person noticed a cockroach climbing the wall by their table.
MCHD found over 150 cockroaches in their investigation that came from 12 areas of the restaurant. They also found food with live activity, exposed foods and non-food contact areas.
In past inspections, officials did not notice the levels of activity they found in their latest inspection. While they observed cockroach activity in the past, a pest-control service was coming in and treating the restaurant weekly.
Thai Thani will be allowed a follow-up inspection after owners and management finish sanitation and get treatment and situation monitoring from a pest control service.
