A woman who tried multiple times to cash bad checks and also recruited other women in her scheme to try to steal money from a local credit union has been arrested.
Wonda Davis first attempted to cash an altered check of almost $3,000 on May 13th. Three other women then attempted to cash checks worth hundreds of dollars. Police spoke to the three accomplices who told officers that Davis instructed them to each open accounts so they could cash the checks from Davis.
Davis has also been accused of attempting to cash a number of checks at Von Maur. She will now face a number of charges for deceptive practices. She is being held in Macon County Jail on $20,000 bond.
