This comes after a death in Illinois was linked to vape use. This was the first vape-related death in the country. Health professionals note that lung injuries from vaping can happen in as little as three months. Doctors say the chemicals inhaled create an inflammatory response in the lungs that can be higher than cigarette smoke.
Also, Springfield has proposed an ordinance that would see vaping banned from certain areas. Currently, Illinois has no regulations for e-cigarettes but the ordinance would treat e-cigarettes like their tobacco counterpart, if passed.
