Early Wednesday morning there was an attempted robbery at an ATM in Decatur in which a shot was fired.
A husband and wife were taking money out from the PNC bank ATM located on North Main and were approached and confronted by the suspect. The victim was near his vehicle which his wife was sitting in. The suspect then demanded the man drain all the money from his bank account. In response, the man’s wife distracted the suspect by driving the car forward and honking the horn.
This distracted the suspect, and the man was able to escape. The suspect fired a shot at the man but missed and ran away.
There were no injuries and the husband and wife did not lose any money.
