Officials from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency are wanting families to have a plan in place in case off an emergency as part getting their children prepared for the start of the 2019-20 school year. The IEMA is wanting families to know they need to have their emergency contact information up to date with the school district to have an approved friend or member of the family to pick up the children should there be an emergency arise. The IEMA also recommend telling your children to send a short text message to family members in the case of an emergency to let them know they are okay, as text messages would be more likely to go through then an actual phone call if cell services were disrupted.
