More details are coming out about the Forsyth resident who is employed as a first grade teacher at Normal’s Glenn Elementary School. Jon Hovey has been accused of sexually assaulting at least two children. He was arrested Friday night on four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse as well as two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault.
The district became aware of allegations against Hovey in April, and he was placed on paid administrative leave. Normal police were then contacted immediately.
This started when a child told her mother that her teacher touched her through her clothes and also asked her to touch him. According to documentation, instances like this occurred around 50 times at Hovey’s desk.
During the investigation, police became aware of a similar allegation made against Hovey in 2005 but no charges were filed. Police found similarities between both cases.
