The killer of Yingying Zhang has avoided the death penalty but he will spend the rest of his life in prison. Judge James Shadid offered Christensen time to make a statement, which the killer denied.
Judge Shadid then thanked law enforcement and witnesses who came forward and helped put Christensen behind bars. He was also fined a total of $750,000, which is to counteract him from earning money off of the case.
