A transgender inmate was released after alleged abuse while in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Deon “Strawberry” Hampton, who is from Chicago, was serving a 10-year sentence for burglary and was released from Lincoln Illinois’ Logan Correctional Center. Hampton was released following restoration of good conduct credit. Originally, Hampton was at a correctional facility for men, but was a repeated victim of sexual assault and beatings from fellow prisoners.
