Macon County is receiving close to $60,000 in federal funding to supplement and expand emergency shelter programs. Agencies that qualify are encouraged to apply.
The funding comes from the Department of Homeland Security as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency via the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board program. A local board of representatives will be made up from members of: United Way of Decatur & Mid Illinois, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Catholic charities and other local organizations. They will determine how to distribute the money.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, July 12th at 5 p.m.
