There is a budget in place for Illinois over the next fiscal year. The Senate passed a nearly 40 billion dollar budget over the weekend. Also included was a 45 billion dollar outline for rebuilding roads, schools, and other public works. Other parts of the package were: a gaming expansion tax, an increased gas tax and a cigarette tax.
Governor Pritzker praised the budget, saying that the people of Illinois can be proud of it.
The budget, which was over 1,500 pages, was released publicly only 12 hours before it was approved.
