Beardstown woman is facing charges for allegedly spiking an Illinois State trooper’s drink

A Beardstown woman is facing charges for allegedly spiking an Illinois State trooper’s drink.  Valeria Martinez is accused of introducing an Illegal substance into the trooper’s sports drink located in his squad car.  The incident happened when Martinez and a traveling companion were stopped Tuesday night on U.S. Route 67 in Schuyler County and an investigation was conducted into alleged criminal activity.  The affected trooper is recovering and stable, though information about whether the trooper was hospitalized was not released.
