Illinois lawmakers want to set some money aside for college for every child born in the state. The Illinois House last week okayed a plan to create a 50 dollar savings account for all children born or adopted in Illinois starting in 2021. The 50 dollars could grow, and families could access it starting when a child turns ten. No one is saying where Illinois will get the ten million-dollars a year it will take to pay for the savings accounts. The Illinois Senate will take up the plan next.
