(Tempe, AZ) — USC offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is leaving before ever coaching a game. Kingsbury has accepted the head coaching position for the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals after barely a month in Southern California. The Trojans hired him in December after he was fired as head coach at Texas Tech. USC initially blocked him from interviewing for NFL jobs.

(Tampa, FL) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing Bruce Arians out of retirement. The Bucs have hired the 66-year-old to be their next head coach. Arians spent 2018 as a color commentator for CBS after coaching the Arizona Cardinals the previous five years. He replaces Dirk Koetter [[ CUT-er ]], who was fired after three seasons as head coach at Tampa.

(Oakland, CA) — DeMarcus Cousins is on his way back from a torn Achilles. He will reportedly make his Warriors debut January 18th against the Clippers. Cousins hasn’t played since tearing his Achilles with New Orleans last January. The four-time All-Star signed a one-year deal with Golden State over the summer and has been working his way back from injury.

(Oklahoma City, OK) — Thunder center Nerlens Noel is in the hospital after taking a hard fall during last night’s loss to the Timberwolves. He took an elbow to the face from a driving Andrew Wiggins and hit the floor hard. Noel remained motionless for several minutes, but was conscious when he was stretchered off the court. Noel spent the night at OU Medical Center.

(St. Louis, MO) — Tyler Seguin [[ SAY-ginn ]] scored two goals and had an assist for the Stars in a 3-1 win against the Blues at Enterprise Center. David Perron lit the lamp and Jake Allen made 15 saves for St. Louis, which lost for the fourth time in six games. The Blues slipped to 17-20-and-4. They welcome the Canadiens tomorrow night.

(Chicago, IL) — The Blackhawks host the Predators tonight. The Hawks are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Flames on Monday. Chicago is sixth in the Central Division with 39 points. Nashville is second in the Central with 55 points.

(Portland, WA) — The Bulls are set to begin a five-game road trip tonight in Portland. Chicago is 10-and-30 and enters on a four-game losing streak. The Trail Blazers come in at 24-and-17.

(Chicago, IL) — The White Sox are bolstering their bullpen with the addition of Kelvin Herrera. The reliever has agreed to a two-year, 18-million-dollar deal with Chicago. Herrera combined to go 2-and-3 with a 2.44 ERA, 17 saves and 38 strikeouts over 48 relief appearances last season with Kansas City and Washington.

(Bronx, NY) — New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia can resume baseball activities. The team says the 38-year-old lefty had a follow-up stress test on Tuesday and has been cleared to work out. Sabathia had a heart procedure just last month to clear a blockage to an artery and have a stent inserted. He went 9-and-7 with a 3.65 ERA in 29 starts last season.
