(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers aren’t taking any chances with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay has signed him to a four-year contract extension that ESPN reports is worth 134-million-dollars. The deal includes more than 100-million in guaranteed money. Rodgers will be 40 when the contract expires after the 2023 season.

(Florham Park, NJ) — The Jets are moving on from quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. They’ve traded him and a 2019 sixth-round pick to the Saints for a third-round pick next year. NFL Network reports the Jets will start rookie Sam Darnold under center. Bridgewater had signed in the offseason. He was a Pro Bowler with Minnesota in 2015.

(Cleveland, OH) — The Browns are saying goodbye to linebacker Mychal Kendricks. Kendricks was released by Cleveland after federal prosecutors charged him with insider trading. He made 1.2-million-dollars in profits on four investments four years ago. The Browns signed him during the offseason after he won a Super Bowl with Philadelphia.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Colts close out the preseason tonight as they visit the Cincinnati Bengals. Following this game, Indianapolis has until Saturday to trim its roster to 53 players. The regular season kicks off a week from Sunday with a home game against those same Bengals.

(Chicago, IL) — The Bears face the Bills tonight at Soldier Field in their final preseason game. The Monsters of the Midway are 2-2 in the exhibition season. The Bears begin the regular-season on the road against the Packers on September 9th.

(New York, NY) — Serena and Venus Williams will face off against one another in the third round of the U.S. Open tomorrow. The American sisters each won in straight sets in Wednesday’s second round to advance. Younger sister Serena owns a 17-to-12 all-time edge against older sister Venus in their head-to-head matchups.

(Bronx, NY) — Ryan LaMarre homered and smacked two RBI doubles in the White Sox’s 4-1 win over the Yankees in the Bronx. LaMarre drove in all four runs for Chicago, who took two out of three in the series. Reynaldo Lopez allowed just five hits and one run over seven innings for the victory. The Sox have won five of their last six games.

(St. Louis, MO) — Trevor Williams tossed six shutout innings to lead the Pirates to a 2-0 win over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Miles Mikolas allowed two runs in five innings to take the loss. Matt Carpenter was replaced at first base by Matt Adams in the top of the fourth after he felt nauseous.

(Chicago, IL) — Todd Frazier drilled a grand slam in the first inning as the Mets rolled to a 10-3 victory over the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Alec Mills didn’t give up any more runs after the grand slam, but still took the loss. The North Siders beat New York 2-1 in 11 innings earlier in the day to finish off Tuesday’s suspended game. Ben Zobrist singled in the game-winner for Chicago, which took two-of-three.
>>Brewers’ Yelich Hits For Cycle
(Cincinnati, OH) — Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich hit for the cycle while going 6-for-6 in a wild 13-12, 10-inning win over the Reds in Cincinnati. He completed the cycle with an RBI triple in the seventh to tie the game at 10 for Milwaukee. Yelich tied a club record with his six hits and is the eighth player in franchise history to hit for the cycle.
