(Decatur, IL) — Add Decatur to the list of cities in Illinois who are reviewing their panhandling bans after a challenge from the ACLU. Interim Decatur City Manager Billy Tyus Tuesday said they got a letter from the ACLU demanding that Decatur repeal its ban on people asking for money. A federal judge in Springfield this month struck down Springfield’s panhandling ban. The ACLU says Aurora, Carbondale, Champaign, Chicago, Cicero, Danville, East St. Louis, Elgin, Joliet, Moline, Oak Park, Peoria, Rockford, and Urbana also got letters about their bans.
