Tyler O’Neill drilled a solo shot in the eighth to tie the game for St. Louis, which swept the three-game series. Cards rookie right-hander Jack Flaherty took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before the Dodgers’ Joc Pederson tagged him for a homer. St. Louis holds the top NL wild card spot heading into an off-day today.

(Detroit, MI) — The Cubs bats came alive in their 8-2 victory over the Tigers at Comerica Park. Rookie David Bote, Javier Baez and Anthony Rizzo all homered for the North Siders, who split the two-game set with Detroit. Daniel Murphy went 2-for-5 with an RBI single in the fifth in his Cubs’ debut. Chicago starter Jon Lester notched his 14th win after throwing five-and-two-thirds innings of one-run ball.

(Chicago, IL) — The Cubs are back home to open a four-game series tonight with the Reds. Cole Hamels takes the mound for the North Siders against the Reds’ Anthony DeSclafani. The Cubs are 72-and-53, two-and-a-half games ahead of the Cardinals for first place in the NL Central.

(Chicago, IL) — Nicky Delmonico, Tim Anderson and Adam Engel homered to help the White Sox top the Twins 7-3 at Guaranteed Rate. Matt Davidson added a two-run single in the fifth for the South Siders, who split the two-game set with Minnesota. Sox starter Carlos Rodon surrendered two runs in six innings for the win. Chicago has won six out of their last eight.

Meyer is being suspended three games after an investigation into the handling of domestic-violence allegations against former wide receivers coach Zach Smith. (Indianapolis, IN) — Indianapolis Colts radio announcer Bob Lamey is retiring after being reported for using a racial slur at a local radio station. The incident occurred off-air last week while Lamey was telling a story to a friend. Lamey was the Colts’ play-by-play announcer for a total of 31 years.

(Frisco, TX) — Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called Guillian Barre Syndrome. The diagnosis came this week for Frederick, who hasn’t missed a game for Dallas in his five-year career. There is no timetable for his return and it’s possible he could miss games.

(New York, NY) — The 2019 Major League Baseball schedule is out. The Mariners and Athletics will start the season with a two-game series in Japan on March 20th and 21st. All 30 clubs will be in action on March 28th, the earliest Opening Day in league history outside of international series. The Red Sox and Yankees will play MLB’s first-ever games in London on June 29th and 30th.

(Miami, FL) — The New York Yankees are placing closer Aroldis Chapman on the 10-day disabled list. The hard-throwing lefty tweaked his knee in the 12th inning of New York’s 2-1 win at Miami on Tuesday. Chapman is fourth in the American League with 31 saves.

(Undated) — The match is set between golf stars Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The pair announced a nine-million-dollar, winner-take-all match on Wednesday that will take place November 23rd in Las Vegas. Prices have not been set for the match, which will be available via pay-per-view.
