(Decatur, IL) — Just before midnight on Thursday night, Decatur Police responded to the intersection of Oakland and Main, when police arrived on scene they found a 24-year-old male from Decatur and the victim was identified as Cody L. Drew, by the Macon County Coroner. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. After the initial response the Decatur Police Department, Criminal Investigators and Street Crimes Divisions worked all through Thursday night and all day Friday. They compiled numerous interviews from witnesses, physical evidence collected at the scene and a search warrant served. Just after 12:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon 48 year old Decatur resident, Ray M. James, was arrested and booked into the Macon County Jail on the charge of 1st Degree Murder.
